Wanted: Local home for Scout Christmas tree lot

Local Boy Scout Troop 151 has been selling Christmas trees for the past 34 years from the parking lot of the Safeway at Roosevelt Way Northeast and Northeast 75th Street.

That’s not working this year, writes Bob Brotherson,  Scoutmaster.

“Troop 151 needs a location with power and parking in order to continue with our Tree Lot. The troop uses funds raised to finance their outdoor education program, which includes monthly camp-outs, Boy Scout Summer Camp, long-term camping programs, and community service projects.

“Any help in finding a new location would be great,” writes Brotherson, who needs a location in the next few weeks or he’ll have to cancel the Tree Lot.

“Boy Scout Troop 151 was started in the Maple Leaf neighborhood in 1928,  and has sold Christmas Trees since 1934.”

  1. The NE corner of Northgate Way and Roosevelt may be available for tree sales. Last year it was tied up as a construction lot for street improvements, but has had tree sales on it in the past.

My question about using the bike lane to get to the right turn lane has been answered, City installed posts to make it impossible. Traffic seems to be worse at this corner now.

  2. The (previously) vacant lot next to Snappy Dragon would’ve been a great spot. Is there any reason they can’t ‘borrow’ the Menachem Mendel Seattle Cheder location? I know it’s a bit ironic, but the area hasn’t been razed yet. They do have parking as well.
