A prowler in her backyard

As we wrote last week in “A burglar inside her home,” police say a standard way to break into houses is through the back door or window.

This afternoon, Andrea wrote us about something similar that occurred on Sunday, Jan. 16.

It’s sad to see all the burglary postings of late. I had a prowling incident yesterday to add to the list. This occurred at the 98th block of 8th Ave. NE around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday 1/16.

I was home alone when an unfamiliar man came into my yard and was moving quickly to go around the back of the house. I saw him from the window and yelled at him to leave the property. He muttered something about a stolen cell phone, but seemed surprised to find someone at home and left immediately.

The blonde, Caucasian man was wearing a t-shirt & shorts in January and had a flushed face and didn’t appear to be armed. He had a navy blue Mariners backpack. The incident was reported to Seattle Police and I alerted the local block watch.

Police also report a home burglary early this morning, Jan. 17, in the 300 block of Northeast 103rd Street. It occurred about 2 a.m., but no further details were immediately available.
