A bit of an embarrassing accident at Station 31 at Northgate this afternoon — a fire engine rolled out of the station without a driver, across North Northgate Way and crashed into a fence and telephone pole.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the crash, and the fire department says the accident is under investigation. Station 31 covers the Maple Leaf neighborhood. (Thanks Silver for the tip and Seattle Times for the photo!)

You are exactly right, and that is as it should be. It was VERY fortunate that no one was injured.
