A few minutes ago we watched Jill Killen, at Cloud City Coffee, hold up a stack of limp beverage cups. By the time we made it home with our drinks she had posted them on the shop’s Facebook page, writing: “So hot … the compostable cups are melting.”
It’s not going to get better this afternoon, or Monday. The National Weather Service has announced an excessive heat warning for the entire area.
Low temperatures will also be much warmer than normal, providing only limited relief at night….The warmest locations will be in the urban areas of the central and north Puget Sound.
On Saturday Seattle broke its heat record for Aug. 14 with a temperature of 95 degrees. Today’s record, of 92 degrees from 1967, is also likely to fall by afternoon.
This is way better than the freezing cold weather we’ve been having.
It was 78 degrees last night at midnight. Bleah.
