North Helpline food bank’s “Round Up Hunger” campaign ends in two days, so please help fill food barrels at local shops.

Thirty-eight organizations, businesses, and community groups have signed up to participate by decorating a barrel and filling it with food for the food bank, which has seen demand grow by 37 percent this year.

The decorated barrels will be displayed at the Lake City Pioneer Days Festival this Saturday, Aug. 7.  Prizes will be awarded for Most Food Collected, Most Creative/Artistic, Best Representation of the Theme and Crowd Favorite.

Businesses or organizations with barrels in Maple Leaf include Cloud City Coffee, Café Javasti, La Casa del Mojito, Northgate Community Center Teen Program and Blue Saucer Coffee.

The food bank serves northeast Seattle.

For more information call Lynda at North Helpline, 206-367-3477, or visit www.northhelpline.org. For liability reasons the food bank can’t accept food past the expiration date.
