The electric speed sign has gone to serve other neighborhoods, but it may be back.

“The Speed Trailer is meant to serve as a short-term educational tool for drivers to behave prudently on residential roads; given that it’s likely the same drivers using the street each day, having it deployed for a few days gave them an opportunity to see the ‘message’ several times,” e-mails Kip Loo, with the city Department of Transportation.

The sign was on Northeast 104th Street in an attempt to convince motorists dodging the 15th Avenue Northeast bridge closure to slow down.

Loo continued: “Traffic Operations had indicated that they would consider re-deploying it in a few weeks as a follow-up reminder to drivers.  The Seattle Police Department has been informed of the issue regarding speed enforcement along NE 104th St. and other residential streets where residents have observed excessively fast drivers within the Maple Leaf Community.”

Loo also said the city is investigating extending the left turn signal time from Northgate Way onto Roosevelt Way Northeast, and improving the left turn from Roosevelt onto Northeast 75th Street.
