Update Monday morning: Winds, which have caused several power outages around the area, are forecast to remain high all day. The high wind gust overnight in Maple Leaf was 29 mph shortly after 3:30 a.m.
A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM PDT THIS EVENING. EXPECT SUSTAINED SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WIND OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH. STRONG WINDS WILL SUBSIDE EARLY THIS EVENING.
A powerful, late spring storm is now arriving, with plenty of rain and winds later tonight exceeding 40 mph in town, the National Weather Service in Seattle is reporting.
Gusts in Maple Leaf had already reached 20 mph by 3:30 p.m.
The storm is bringing heavy snow to the mountains, with the snow level dropping well below the passes to around 2,500 feet by morning, the weather service reports. “Anticipate hazardous winter driving conditions in the Cascade passes on Monday.”
