Lumpia World back today, Crisp Creperie continues discount next week

March 23rd, 2012 by master

Crisp Creperie had to jet outta the neighborhood early yesterday after selling out by 1 p.m., but in its place today is Lumpia World at the Washington Dental Service/Delta Dental, 9706 Fourth Ave. N.E., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In a message to neighborhood food truck fans, Crisp Creperie said because it sold out so quickly, it plans to extend its discount during its new regular Thursday visit next week, March 29, also from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until they sell out!). It explained:

We here at Crisp Creperie food truck would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all the people who came out to visit us yesterday!  We were thrilled by the turnout which greatly exceeded our expectations, as evidenced by how quickly we sold out of our stock. Our apologies to the many people we had to turn away, and we would like to announce that we will be extending the “Delta” discount promotion through next week’s Thursday visit as a gesture of apology and our thanks.  Please be sure to mention the promotion, and we will be happy to offer $2 off any savory crepe or $1 off any sweet crepe you order.  Also, please note that our credit card system replacement is here, and we will have the ability to accept cards during next week’s visit.  Thank you all for your patience while our system was down!

If you’re hungry now, though, here’s what Lumpia World has in store today:

Lumpia Selections: Ginger Pork, Lemon Grass Chicken, Ground Steak, Vegetarian, Sweet Potato, & Banana.

Soba Soup Selections: Tofu, Baked Chicken Breast, Spam, or (K)rab Topped w/: Fresh Cilantro, Chopped Green Onions, Sesame Oil, & Garlic/Chili Sauce

  • Garlic Rice
  • Veggie Pancit w/(2) Lumpia Combo
  • Chicken Katsu Sliders w/Crinkle Fries (Filet Chicken Breast, topped with a Mild Tomato Based Aioli, & Fresh Asian Slaw on a Sweet Hawaiian Bun)

Street food is no longer just a weekday event

March 23rd, 2011 by master

We’ve got a couple of regulars returning to the Maple Leaf neighborhood this week: Lumpia World on Thursday and Charlie’s Buns ‘N Stuff on Friday.

Both are scheduled to be parked from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside of the Washington Dental Service building at 9706 Fourth Ave.,  just south of Thornton Place. However, let us warn you that those are only approximate times, as “CAS” learned last week after waiting a half-hour for Lumpia World to open. Lumpia World did tweet that it was running late last Thursday, but we didn’t see it early enough to warn our readers.

And that’s not all. The neighborhood gets an extra treat on Saturday, with Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream truck planning a visit at the Thornton Place plaza from 1-4 p.m. So what if showers are in the forecast!

Is it spring again? Molly Moon's returns

March 7th, 2011 by master

Update: Curry Now! has canceled for Wednesday. Also, our news partner The Seattle Times has a piece on proposals to make street food more readily available.

It appears that we made it through the winter with enough business heading to our lunchtime street food vendors that they’re sticking around for more.

After a dead-of-the-winter departure from the regular stopping spot at the Washington Dental Service building, 9706 Fourth Ave., Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream is returning from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, along with a handful of other mobile food vendors this week.

Tomorrow, Got Soup? will park in its regular spot from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; followed by Curry Now! from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday; Lumpia World from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday; and Charlie’s Buns ‘n Stuff from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

Yes, we realize that the last time we posted almost all of these vendors’ names, they canceled their appearances, but apparently the very-below-freezing weather that week was a bit too much for those kitchens on wheels.
