Two community events at Green Lake

November 18th, 2016 by Mike

Luminaries at Green Lake Dec. 10th.

The annual Pathway of Lights returns to Green Lake from 4:30-7:30 p.m. “rain or shine”.

From Seattle Parks and Recreation:

Join thousands of families, friends and neighbors for this beloved Seattle tradition. Travel the 2.8-mile path around the lake, taking in the warm glow of the luminaria, music and refreshments. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lights and candles to add to the ambiance.

For more information visit their Facebook page.

Join Hands Around Green Lake Saturday Nov. 19th from 12:30-2 p.m.

Inspired by the Hands Around Lake Merritt solidarity protest in Oakland, this event aims to get enough people (2,700, they say) to join hands all the way around Green Lake (2.8 miles) in “a single loop of unity…against racism, sexism, homophobia, and Islamophobia.”

Green Lake luminaries are tonight

December 13th, 2014 by Mike

The annual Green LakeĀ  luminaries – path of lights – starts at 4:30 tonight.

Singers, musicians and thousands of people will stroll the 3.5 mile paved path at the lake.

Earlier tonight outside the Boathouse.

It appears that Real candles have returned! (We stopped going during the LED candle years.)

AND there’s no rain in the forecast. (We have been to some very soggy luminaries. And one memorably so-thick-you-can’t-see-six-feet-ahead foggy one.)

Details are here. If you can, bring non-perishable food bank donations.

Many species mingle at the luminaries.
