Lost: Chicken. Found: cell phone, Mazda keys

November 23rd, 2015 by Mike

Sharon emails: “Missing chicken: We are missing a brown and gold Americana hen. If you see her please call: 206-992-4383. Thanks! We live on the corner of 12th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 98th Street.”

Another neighbor emails: “We found a phone in the lower area of Maple Leaf Park on Sunday night around 5:30 p.m.”

The battery is dead, so if somebody’s missing it let us know.

Finally, a set of keys to a recent-model Mazda was found this morning at the north entrance to Maple Leaf Reservoir Park.

Found: Car and house keys and TWO orange shoes

August 2nd, 2015 by Mike

Update 10 a.m. Police came out and picked up the shoes.

Update 9 a.m. As noted in comments below, the second shoe has been spotted and we picked it up.

M.L. emails overnight:

This (Saturday) morning just before dawn I found car and house keys next to Mojito’s restaurant near Safeway (at Roosevelt Way Northeast and Northeast 75th Street).

Easy to tell which car but impossible to tell which house. I will post a sign near there later today. Could you also post a notice on your blog, please for the owner to identify and come forward? Thank you!

In addition, an orange Nike sports shoe wound up in the front yard at Maple Leaf Life South, off 12th Avenue Northeast, on Thursday morning.

It’s conceivably related to the armed robbery Wednesday night of a 14-year-old boy at Roosevelt and Northeast 85th Street. The robbers, according to police, took a backpack but most of its contents were “strewn along the sidewalk from the scene to where the robbers were found.”

And now a lost ring – on a circuitous path

December 30th, 2014 by Mike

Jessica emails overnight:

Could you please help us? My husband lost a silver wedding-type-band this afternoon around 1 p.m.

Unfortunately, the possible area is pretty large. It’s somewhere between the corner of 12th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 98th Street and the upper Maple Leaf Park — and then he walked around the park path, across Roosevelt Way Northeast and up to Cloud City.

The ring has a distinctive vine-pattern etched deeply around it. The value is nothing except extremely sentimental (brought back from Italy 20 years ago!).

On the extreme off-chance anyone sees it or has it, we would love to see it again!

Thank you and Happy New Year!

Ring found Christmas Eve across from Maple Leaf Park

December 29th, 2014 by Mike

Kyle emails: “We found a ring on the sidewalk on Christmas Eve outside of LeBlanc (across Roosevelt Way Northeast from Maple Leaf Reservoir Park and near the Rez). “If anyone is missing a ring and can describe we would be happy to return it.

“Thanks.”

KOMO to join hunt for signed Pacific Coast League baseball?

September 5th, 2014 by Mike

Email early this morning:

Hi. My name is Luke Duecy and I’m a reporter for KOMO TV.

Saw the post about an autographed baseball … found in a park.

I like that story – and I’m wondering if we might work together to find an owner?

We’re passing his contact information on to the finder, who says the ball has many signatures from the Pacific Coast League.

For those who (like me) never heard of the Pacific Coast League, it has a typically obtuse (to non-fans) site here. “Chihuahuas, Padres extend affiliation pact.”

Fortunately, there’s Wikipedia:

The Pacific Coast League (PCL) is a minor-league baseball league operating in the Western, Midwestern, and Southeastern United States. Along with the International League and the Mexican League, it is one of three leagues playing at the Triple-A level, which is one step below Major League Baseball. It is officially named the Pacific Coast League of Professional Baseball Clubs, Inc.

Locally, we have the Tacoma Rainiers, affiliated with the Mariners.

Sunglasses loser seeks sunglasses finder

August 4th, 2014 by Mike

Sachiyo emails:

I took my twins to the Maple Leaf park on 8/2 in the evening. I had my sunglasses (brown Coach sunglasses) that my sister bought for me when she visited me from Japan this spring and noticed they weren’t with me.

I went to the area I thought I lost those (at the double slides by the zip line) and asked people there, and they said someone found them and was looking for a person who lost them.

I went to the area where the swings were and asked the same thing and was told the same thing, but the person who found my sunglasses were gone and my sunglasses as well. I was wondering if I could post my comment somewhere so that the person might contact me.

Lost a bike or Ford key this week?

September 21st, 2013 by master

We received a couple of emails from readers about items lost in the past week.

Emily Irwin with North Seattle Orthopedic & Community Acupuncture, 11329 Pinehurst Way N.E., told us:

On Monday someone locked a bike up to our bike rack but has not come back to get it since. It isn’t it great shape but we were wondering if you could post something on your blog asking the owner to come pick it up? It almost seems as if it is stolen because it does not look rideable but the odd thing is that it is locked up. We have a very small bike rack and we need to be able to accommodate our patients who are cyclists. If we do not find the owner soon we will need to move the bike.

If you think the bike might be yours, call the clinic at (206) 524-6428.

Reader Tamara Oki also emailed us about a Ford key and remote lock control, shown at left, that she found Wednesday on 15th Avenue Northeast between 82nd Street and 85th Street. Email her at tamaraoki@wonderanimal.com for more information.
