Delivered to Maple Leaf Life South this afternoon is a mini-leaflet announcing a celebration of International PARK(ing) Day.
It will be celebrated here in Maple Leaf by turning two on-street parking spaces into a public space.
For five hours during evening drive time on Friday, Sept. 15th. At the intersection of Fifth Avenue Northeast and Northeast 85th Street.
From Aimee, new co-leader with her husband Ian of Maple Leaf Greenways:
PARK(ing) Day is intended to encourage creative placemaking and raise awareness about the importance of walkable, livable and healthy communities.
We chose this intersection as visibility is poor, cars often speed, there is a lot of cut through traffic on side streets and that crosswalk signal just takes too gosh darn long to change.
Hours are from 2-7 p.m.
