Found: An iPhone, a feline

September 12th, 2015 by Mike

Bilaai posts on NextDoor Northgate/Maple Leaf:

I found an iPhone 4S at Maple Leaf Park. It’s locked and there’s no service on it. The wallpaper is a picture of an adorable blue-eyed young girl.

I’ll probably leave it with Parks & Rec lost and found this weekend.

And Jennifer emails:

Can you help find this kitty’s owner? I returned him to his owner a few months ago and he seems to have escaped again but I don’t know how to reach the owner. He’s been sneaking in our house and enjoying our cat’s food. He’s beautiful and we would be happy to adopt him but I’m sure he has a worried owner.

The cat is on Northeast 91st Street between 20th and 17th avenues northeast.

Found: A red bike, a yellow scooter and a black cat

August 12th, 2015 by Mike

Cindy posts on our Facebook page: “There has been a red Univega bike abandoned on the corner of North 87th Street and Meridian Avenue North for over a week. It is wearing its lock. I hope the owner sees this!”

Terry emails (to the Nextdoor Northgate/Maple Leaf group):

A yellow-and-black Strada Veriflex scooter has been setting, abandoned after probably having been stolen, on the walkway to an office building at 10202 5th Ave. N.E. (site for an engineering firm and a children’s dental facility). It has been there since Monday, August 10th.

I called the Seattle Police non-emergency phone number, to see if some officers could be dispatched to hold it at the North Precinct station; but gave up after being on hold for 10 minutes; might try again, later.

If this is your scooter, or you know whose it is, likely it will still be there, this evening (this post written at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12th).

And Patty emails:

“We’ve had this kitty hanging around our neighborhood for the last few weeks. No tags. Small and very friendly. Have asked a few neighbors but none appear to be owners.

“I haven’t seen any missing cat posts or posters around. Near Northeast 94th Street and 20th Avenue Northeast.”

A second cat found

May 27th, 2015 by Mike

Chelsea emails:

Found near Northeast 86th Street and Ravenna Avenue Northeast – male cat, short hair, all black.

He’s been in our neighborhood for at least three-four weeks but only just approached us this past weekend and hasn’t wanted to leave since. He took up residence on our porch Saturday morning and has hardly left.

Seems like he’s been out on his own for a while – is very bony and hungry and has some cuts on his ears and scars.

May 21st, 2015 by Mike

Jennifer emails: “We found a lovely tuxedo cat near our house and I think she’s a lost house kitty. Attached are photos.”

In an separate email she said: “She has no collar, but she seems healthy and well-fed and we think she’s missing her family . We’d love to keep this sweet purring machine but I’m allergic to cats.”

In which two "found cats" are reported

November 10th, 2014 by Mike

Two emails over the weekend:

Friends of Campus Cats has scooped up a friendly cat who seems too hungry and eager for company to be a roving pet. Adult female, grey domestic shorthair w/white paws.

She has been hanging around Northeast Eighth Street and 100th Avenue Northeast for at least a month, risking life and limb in the street.  She is microchipped, but the number is untraceable.  Please leave a message at 206-442-2051 if you think she is your cat or if you have any tips for us.

And Laurel emails:

This beautiful but timid kitty has been hanging out in the parking lot of Northeast 91st Street and Roosevelt Way Northeast.  Was obviously once loved and cared for (nice coat, well groomed).  I tried to get “her” into a cat carrier to take to the local vet to see if she was chipped, but failed.

PLEASE spread the word…this is not a breed that can survive outdoors!

News about Mr. Grumbles, another cat – and crime

August 26th, 2014 by Mike

News from around the neighborhood in the past few days:

Mr. Grumbles (Do you know this cat hanging on 12th N.E.), the neighborhood cat who walks by himself and visits many homes, apparently has quite a few fans.

He may soon have his own Facebook page, his owner speculates. He was originally found living behind a dumpster, she says.

We may actually start a Facebook page (ridiculous) for him, to explain his story and advise people to not feed him/ let him inside, as he loves variety and free choice of where he stays… he just doesn’t know any better.

Meanwhile, Hallie emails: “I am part of the neighborhood … I have a cat that needs a home and I was hoping that you might be able to help.”

Rio is a male tabby with a bull’s eye design on his sides. He’s an outdoor cat and about 9 years old. Email Hallie at halliem61@gmail.com

Finally, since our last crime report in mid-July, it appears there have been right at 17 burglaries in Maple Leaf, according to the police crime map.

Update: A found cat reported overnight. Look around the neighborhood for Maud the missing gray cat

October 10th, 2012 by Mike

Update Oct. 10: Maud has come home (see comment)  but now Shawna emails:

“Hi. We have had this cat come and go from our house for the last couple of weeks. Hoping to find its home! Please let us know if this is your kitty. Thanks!!”

She lives near Northeast 92nd Street and Eighth Avenue Northeast.

—————————-

Jessica emails this morning:

“My cat Maud is missing. She is a big female domestic short-haired gray tabby/orange calico mixed cat around seven years old. From afar she looks light gray.”

Maud has been missing since Monday. She lives on Northeast 95th Street between

12th and 15th avenues northeast.

“She’s micro-chipped, but not showing up in any system. She doesn’t have a collar (she knows how to take them off!). She is also very vocal. She is a sweet cat but a bit wary of strangers.

“If you see her or if you find her would you give me a call at 206-234-2788 or 206-517-2962.

“I’m a regular reader and have seen other pets found because of you guys and so I’m really hopeful that this will find her!”
