Seattle has posted an online map of our “urban forest,” including specially recognized “heritage trees.” Maple Leaf has three of them, including this Akebono Cherry, which the city says has a diameter of 32 inches. Heritage trees, first recognized here in 1996, must meet these criteria: Specimen: A tree of exceptional size, form, or rarity.
