The commuter buses that carry hundreds of workers from Maple Leaf down 15th Avenue Northeast to downtown and the University district on Monday will start rumbling down Roosevelt Avenue instead.
The switch happened over the weekend for commuters on Metro’s popular routes 73, 77 and 373. The 15th Avenue bus stops are being closed for about a year as work begins to reconstruct the bridge over Thornton Creek. For more information from Metro on the change, click here.
That bridge, on 15th Avenue just south of Northgate Way at 105th Street, is on the city’s short list for repair. The structure of the entire bridge will be strengthened and cracks in the concrete repaired, and a railing will separate the sidewalk from the pavement.
When will the bridge actually close? We e-mailed the city’s project team to ask that question last month. No answer as of Friday.
