A man who allegedly told officers he was going to bomb the Seattle police department’s North Precinct will have a date in court on Monday.

According to court documents, Adrian Scott Dower, 37, called Seattle Police on Feb. 6 to say: “At six in the afternoon today I’m going to plant a bomb at the North Precinct,” which is on College Way North across Interstate 5 from Northgate Mall.

When the officer who took the call asked why, Dower replied: “I want to see cops die,” according to the court documents. He then readily gave his name, date of birth and address, which was in Federal Way. Police there promptly arrested him.

It’s not a good time to be threatening police. Since Halloween, nine area law-enforcement officers have been shot; six have died.

The court documents charge Dower with threats to bomb or injure property and hold him in jail on a half-million dollars bail.

Dower said he intended to kill an officer or officers at the North Precinct who he knew by sight but not by name, according to the court documents. They hadn’t done anything to him, he said, “he just wanted to see what it felt like to kill a cop.”

Dower said he planned to leave his Federal Way apartment and  buy and build the pipe bomb, which would be about eight inches long and two inches in diameter, the documents state. He would wait outside the precinct and throw the bomb at the officers, then hitchhike to Boise, where he didn’t know anyone, but thought it would be a good place to go, according to the documents.

No bomb-making material was found in his car, but Dower said he built simple pipe bombs with gunpowder 15 years ago while living in Kentucky. Dower has a previous conviction for second-degree burglary, the documents state.
