There’s so much going on this weekend, starting at 9 a.m. today with the annual plant sale at Olympic View Elementary. The PTA fundraiser is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
What else is going on?
- MyGreenlake says the Seattle Canoe and Kayak Club also is holding a plant sale this weekend, from 4-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. The event will be at the Aqua Theater, next to the Small Craft Center on the south side of Green Lake.
- Tonight is opening night for Northwest Puppet Center’s “Pulcinella Vendicato,” an opera buffa making its North American debut. Patrons at tonight’s performance are invited to an opening night reception after the show. Additional performances are at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with an evening performance at 8 Saturday.
- From our partner PhinneyWood, also tonight is St. John Catholic School’s annual auction, which starts at 5:30 p.m. and will feature such silent and live auction items as “Star Wars” collectibles, a Mariners Ichiro jersey, Sounders tickets and vacation getaways. The auction is in Egan Hall, on 79th Street between Greenwood and First avenues.
- If you’re taking part in Seattle Public Library’s “Seattle Reads” program, there will be a reading of Laila Lalami’s “Secret Son” from 11 a.m. to noon at the University branch, 5009 Roosevelt Way N.E. This reading is adapted and directed by Kate Godman and performed by Book-It Repertory Theatre. Also in collaboration with “Seattle Reads,” Arab Cultural Day is taking place from noon to 3 p.m. at Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Ave.
- Earth Day activities continue Saturday from 12:30-1:15 p.m. with Fun Earth Day Adventures for children ages 4-6. The event will include relays and obstacle courses at Green Lake Community Center, 7201 E. Green Lake Drive N.
- Also on the green scheme of things, neighbors are invited to visit an open house kitchen renovation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 546 N.E. 89th St. Green materials used include concrete and recycled glass countertops, Energy Star-rated appliances and more.
- Got documents you need to shred? You can bring up to two bags to the newly named Salal Credit Union, formerly known as Group Health Credit Union and located at 11023 Eighth Ave. N.E., for its annual Shredathon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
- Empty Bowls, a fundraiser for the North Helpline food bank, invites you to pick out a locally handcrafted bowl, eat food from local restaurants and listen to local music all for a good cause from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Northgate Community Center, 10510 Fifth Ave. N.E.
