That particularly garish bit of graffiti is gone from Maple Leaf Reservoir Park, and we have a new way to report future problems.
This incident was originally reported on Seattle Public Utility’s graffiti report form and to the Graffiti Hotline (684-7587).
The report apparently got lost between SPU and parks.
From Seattle Parks and Recreation:
But if you’re certain that a particular piece of graffiti is within a park, it’s more direct (and because it’s more direct, it’s quicker; and also because it’s more direct, there’s that much less chance of going astray) to call Seattle Parks’ Maintenance Request Line (684-7250).
When we dialed the parks request line, it was answered by a real, live, person. !!
We try to have graffiti removed no later than six working days after it’s reported; if special equipment is needed, ten days; for hate-speech graffiti, 24 hours.
Thanks for this info. The parks are one of my favorite features of north Seattle, and I love living in a city that takes care of its public resources.
Yup, just called that line and was picked up right away. Reported graffiti on the skatepark at Hubbard Park. Now to see how long it takes to remove. Thanks for the tip
