A man with a handgun robbed Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, just outside of Maple Leaf, around noon today.

The robbery was successful and the robber escaped, “at least for now,” said Detective Mark Jamieson. Jamieson was unable to say what was taken, but SeattleCrime.com quoted police scanner reports that the robber was after the powerful narcotic OxyContin.

When a robber hit the Maple Leaf Pharmacy last December he was after OxyContin.

Northwest Hospital, at 1550 N. 115th St., is on the other side of Interstate 5 from Maple Leaf. The robber, described as a white man about 5-foot-8 and wearing a black hooded jacket with the hood up, last was seen running down 115th Street, Jamieson said.
