Seattle Police arrested six males Wednesday on the 9000 block of 12th Avenue Northeast. Photo from a neighbor.
Just days before a community meeting to address a rash of burglaries that have hit the Northeast Seattle neighborhood, the Seattle Police Department today arrested a group of six males, including three juveniles, as they were believed to be breaking in to a Maple Leaf home in the 9000 block of 12th Avenue Northeast.
The Seattle Police Department says the suspects are being processed and booked under investigation of burglary.
Police first were notified about 11:50 a.m. today by a neighbor in the 8900 block of 12th Avenue Northeast that a group of males were walking through the back of a neighbor’s home, and that a newer, gray van in front of the house with one or two more people inside appeared to be associated. Police arrived shortly thereafter, arresting all six suspects who appeared to be involved.
Although police won’t say yet whether these suspects are behind the recent uptick in area burglaries, SeattleCrime is reporting that a source at the department says the teens likely are connected.
The meeting to discuss the burglaries is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center, 6535 Ravenna Ave. N.E. Participants are asked to sign up through the Ravenna Blog.
These guys robbed me on my wedding day.
Seattle PI is reporting one of the teens lives with his parents 7 blocks from where he and his associates were arrested… I wonder how the parents, our neighbors, feel about their son’s community activities…
Teens generally engage in at least a little idiotic behavior, but serial residential burglary is Casa Grande time. Enjoy your time boys.
@the Poor.
Let me guess: You also think it’s society’s fault these kids act like hoodlums, instead of placing the blame where it belongs, on THEM, and their good-for -nothing parents.
So anyone who speaks out against crime in their neighborhood is a “clog earth tone wearing elitist?” You do realize that poor people are more likely than the rich to be victimized by crime, don’t you? Oh but these are “elitists,” so they deserve to be stolen from. That’s a great example you’re setting.
Do the rest of us a favor: Don’t have kids. You won’t teach them right from wrong, and they and the rest of us will suffer for it.
Your right there always will be burglars, handcuffs and shackles thats rediculous.
How about we handcuff there parents next to them and ask were did it go wrong.
Home security systems, and nosey neighbors, are a very good deterent.
Years ago I was on the wrong end of the law, and I can tell you most if not all of these burglars are drug addicts it is the sole reason behind 90% of all burglaries.
You see or hear anything out of the ordinary call 911, the more police precense in the neighborhood the less crime, if the block is dark at night petition PUD to put up more lights.
Yeah Neighbors! Thanks for keeping an eye out all of us and calling it in.
Hey readers, let’s tone this conversation down a notch please. We’re all friends and neighbors in Maple Leaf, so let’s try to keep it that way online, too. Otherwise we’re going to have to turn off the comments and I’m pretty sure nobody wants that. Thanks!
you people are ridiculous.
shackles and handcuffs?
how about we as a community do the same to the maintainers of the law WHO ARE CONTINUALLY ABUSING AND MURDERING INNOCENTS IN OUR CITY.
these kids have been arrested and will suffer the consequences of their actions..
how about you clog earth tone wearing elitists in Ravenna and Maple Leaf have them line up in your back yards and you can throw your rocks at them…
funny people in Seattle.
I completely agree with “anonymous”. And Rebecca what do you have against criminals in handcuffs & shackles? Who better to put them on? Would love nothing more than to see them at a crime mtg in front of everybody to explain their sorry selves.
Well, up until “handcuffs and shackles,” I think you had something there. I don’t think it’s within the Crime Prevention Coordinators’ powers, though.
Make the six suspects appear at the community meeting to stand in front of the room, in handcuffs and shackles, to answer questions from the audience until there are no more questions. In particular, compel them to tell the audience what they do with the goods that they steal.
Love this news.
Thanks for posting the meeting information again, especially the RSVP part.
The meeting shall go on, despite these arrests. There will always be burglars, unfortunately.
