A big announcement last night is setting up about $1 million worth of changes on Ravenna Ave between NE 85th and Lake City Way. That area is one of the projects selected to be paid for with the Large Neighborhood Street Fund. Many neighbors have complained about the lack of a sidewalk. This project will widen the roadway on the west side of the street to allow for a bike lane as well as a curb, planting strip and sidewalk. You can read more here.

We’ll just wait and see how the SDOT messes this one up! There is no room on this road to put in the same crap that they have done to the other roads in NS Seattle.
As a biker, I am against the city endangering me by fouling up this roadway. We did quite well without you, thank you very much.
This is a great improvement, and long overdue. I used to live near 89th and Ravenna, and commuted by bus. Due to the lack of sidewalks, to get to the bus stop you had to choose between: crossing a wide and heavily forested ditch; risking death by walking along a narrow shoulder; or cutting across the private property of a condo complex with very persnickety neighbors. On the upside, it made the morning commute feel more exciting and adventurous.
