The Winter Solstice is this evening, and for the second year a Solstice Tree has returned to Maple Leaf Reservoir Park.
It has lights, decorations, and an invitation to neighbors to bring ornaments to fully trim the tree.
Celebrate the return of light!
We went by tonight during the big windstorm to put a couple of musical ornaments on the tree, in memory of the piano there a couple summers ago.
Whoever put it up did a wonderful thing by securing it with cables to the structure. While we were there the wind came up pretty strong and lifted the tree off the ground and kept it floating in space. It wasn’t horizontal, but the base was a good foot off the ground. The lights stayed on as it was waving in the air, nary a flicker.
When the wind died down the tree settled right down, none the worse for wear.
Nice job, mysterious Solstice Treegiver!
Allelujah!
So cool! Thank you to whomever is responsible for this lovely tree! 🙂
