Police detectives are searching for an armed robber who targets restaurants and coffee shops – including one in Maple Leaf.
The robber hit the Mug Bugs Coffee Stand at 5th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 85th Street (at Rick’s Chevron) in both March and April, according to a police press release.
Other targets during the last three months include the neighborhoods of Queen Anne, Wedgwood, Ravenna and Greenwood.
The masked suspect has walked into seven six different businesses —sometimes just as staff are closing up shop—and demanded money from employees while holding them at gunpoint.
Police said victims include Subways on Greenwood Avenue North and 35th Avenue Northeast, the Black Pearl restaurant on 35th Avenue Northeast and Muddy Waters Espresso on North 65th Street. Not shown on the map is Homegrown Sandwiches on Queen Anne Avenue North.

Detectives believe the suspect is a white male, 18-25 years old, between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet tall.
Witnesses have reported seeing the man arrive at or flee from the scene of several robberies in a noticeably dirty, dark-green minivan. equipped with a rooftop luggage rack.
