With an hour to go before the 12th Man parade downtown, traffic is largely stopped.
Our news partner The Seattle Times reports “passengers are unable to board ferries, buses and light rail due to overcrowding.”
Buses at the Northgate Transit Center were jammed, with long lines waiting for the next bus – or the one after that.
Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance!
A statement to live by.
I agree, preplanning was necessary. I take the 66 into work and the buses were impacted as early as 8am. People were already all over downtown. I don’t see how anyone expected that Seattle, or Metro would be able to do anything much with only a 2-day (at most) turnaround.
Funny, w a little pre-planning I had no problems getting down here. I drove from maple leaf to Mercer garage. Left my house at 8:20, arrived at 9am. Did some work in car, walked to Metropolitan Motivated, got some food and made the parade.
If you actually click on the traffic cams on the WSDOT site I-5 is pretty clear, save for the exits to downtown. Sure the buses are full, but there is no gridlock on the freeway.
Yeah I was trying to get to work and the busses were passing by the crowds of people waiting… too full. Lots of sad folks sent home. Bad work Seattle. =(
We waited an hour to catch the 41 bus and gave up. It’s such a shame, the city was not ready to handle this…
