Need some help with your taxes but can’t afford to pay for help?
The Seattle Public Library can help! Starting Monday, Feb. 4, free tax assistance will be available at the Northgate Branch, 10458 Fifth Ave. N.E., through Wednesday, April 17. Hours are:
- 3-7:30 p.m. Mondays
- Noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays
Free tax assistance will be available at various other branches as well. For more information, see the library’s news release.
This tax service is by AARP, not by the Seattle Public Library. It should not be advertised as “assistance” because they don’t answer questions on how to do your taxes. They will do the taxes for you but you must be prepared to do it and send it right then and all signers of the forms must be present. My experience with this was that after waiting for several hours I was told that they couldn’t do the tax return because both joint signers were not present.
