It was great meeting many of you at least year’s Maple Leaf Summer Social, when Maple Leaf Life was still just a few months old and unknown to many neighbors.
We’ll have a table again Wednesday, and hope you’ll stop by and tell us (us being co-editors Mike and Mai Ling) what you love most about living in Maple Leaf. We’re taking a page from our sister blog Queen Anne View, where attendees at a recent event were encouraged to snap a photo with an instant camera, then write on the bottom of the photo what they like best about their neighborhood.
We’ll provide the camera, markers and poster board, but you’re going to provide the creativity and love of Maple Leaf!
In addition to the 50 booths that will be at the Maple Leaf Summer Social, from 6:30-8:30 tomorrow night at the Maple Leaf Playground, 1020 N.E. 82nd St., a few highlights include:
- Frozen custard courtesy Peak’s Frozen Custard and ice cream sponsored by Maple Leaf Ace

I would LOVE to come to the ice cream social. I longingly see the notices and year after year and wish I could go.
HOWEVER the only bus that serves the Maple Leaf Playground [#68] stops running around the time the ice cream social starts.
This cuts out all the people who live in Maple Leaf and depend on the bus from participating in this community event.
Could another venue be found where everyone [or more people, even the non-driver and disabled] could participate?
Okay, I never had the time to make it to your booth, but after this wonderful evening talking to so many people about one of my favourite topics, the reason I love Maple Leaf is because of all the people who visited my booth and asked me if I had any ice cream and when I said no, offered to stand in line and get some for me. It may sound silly, but I appreciated everyone who offered – it was very sweet.
Sounds wonderful! I’ll be there. (-:
What a great idea! I’ll start my list right now.
