Tom Maxwell comes up the hill.
First work party of the season at the Maple Leaf Community Garden, and boy, did we get lucky.
The three-hour session ended at 12:30 p.m. The rain and wind arrived within the half-hour. Before, that, though, just a few raindrops and some actual sun were on order.
The dozen or so participants mulched, weeded, raked and cut back vegetation to get ready for spring gardening season.
From our post on the garden last February:
The garden features 22 P-Patch garden plots and open space for the community, including a meditative labyrinth at its peak and “Native Land,” which is planted with native shrubs that are a haven for birds as well as bird watchers.
