The 23,000-square-foot wine store that replaces Office Max at 400 N.E. 45th St. in Wallingford will open as planned on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
Wine World owner and sommelier David LeClaire, a Maple Leaf resident, told us last month that the enormous store will “blow people away.” “There’s nothing like what we’re doing in the Northwest,” he said. With its location at the I-5 exit and visibility from the freeway, LeClaire intends for his Wine World to attract oenophiles from all over Puget Sound and beyond.
Wine World Warehouse employees were stocking the shelves and about a dozen staffers were getting training when we stopped by to take pictures this past weekend.
Here’s how the space looks:

The store is slated to open at 11 a.m. Wednesday but close at 4 p.m. for a private event. Thursday night from 6-9 p.m. is a public grand opening celebration — if you see spotlights in Wallingford, you know why.
