Another event planned this fall at the Northgate Community Center, 10510 Fifth Ave. N.E., has been canceled.
Last month, it was the Old Country Fair & Chili Cook-Off that got the ax when not enough vendors were able to participate. Now this weekend’s Tea and Fashion Show also has been canceled because not enough patrons showed interest.
The special event planned for Saturday touted “an afternoon of sipping tea and tasting scrumptious treats while watching the latest in fall fashions compliments of Christopher and Banks.”
But at a cost of $25 per person or $45 for a pair, it’s possible economic woes may have been the real culprit in this cancellation.
There are other opportunities to enjoy special events at the community center coming up (view the pdf calendar here), so be sure and reserve your spot early to help spread some holiday cheer. Next up is Breakfast with Santa from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 4. For more information or to make a reservation for your family, call the center at 206-386-4283.
So what do you think? Is it just the economy that’s resulting in waning interest, or are there simply other events you’d like to see at the Northgate Community Center?
Actually, in mid-October the price was lowered to $20 per couple, with a third for an extra $5.
