The fifth annual Old Country Fair & Chili Cook-Off scheduled for this Saturday at Northgate Community Center has been canceled, said Pati Maxwell, coordinator of the community center.
“We only had five vendors and that’s not enough to have a successful country fair,” she said.
But those vendors will get another chance to showcase their wares to the neighborhood and are expected to participate in the annual Northgate Flea Market, which will be billed as a Flea Market and Craft Fair in the spring.
Maxwell says the economy is likely to blame, so in better times let’s hope the event returns, especially since the chef from the Seattle Athletic Club was to be among the competitors in the chili cook-off.
“It was one of our first special events when we opened,” Maxwell added.
