The “For Lease” sign in the window of Revolution Cycles might seem like an ominous sign that we’ll soon be losing Maple Leaf’s destination bicycle (and more) shop, but owner Trask Fredrickson says the business’s demise is not so set in stone.
“We’re here for an indeterminite amount of time,” he said, explaining that he’s looking for a smaller, cheaper place, and that he has no plans to close up shop before the space at 9634 Roosevelt Way N.E. is leased — which he says could take as long as two years considering the current state of the economy. “We’re not rushing to leave.”
Revolution moved just two years ago to the bigger location from 9211 Roosevelt Way N.E., which now houses Hangfire Design and Frame. And even that location is bigger than what Fredrickson now has in mind for a future shop.
And although he says he would like to keep Revolution Cycles in Maple Leaf, Fredrickson said the bottom line is affordability. You’ve got time to convince him to stay, though.
“I can almost guarantee we’ll be here all summer,” Fredrickson said.
