It’s been 24 hours since the 15th Avenue Northeast bridge over Thornton Creek closed, sending all that north-south traffic … where?
The official detours are to Roosevelt Avenue Northeast (seen here during the Tuesday morning commute) and Lake City Way.
We had people asking on Monday where traffic would jam up, and which side streets would become shortcuts until the bridge reopens next year.
On Monday we didn’t see any huge problems with either commute, although the bridge didn’t close until the morning rush was at least partly over. Tuesday morning, though, with the onset of rain, things looked grim on Roosevelt.
What’s your view? Where are the problems and what could be done to help?
There’s actually a bit of positive in it for those east of 15th who usually have to turn left onto rush-hour traffic in the morning. Today, I didn’t have to wait at all to get onto 15th. I kinda hope the pattern continues.
