Southbound on 15th Avenue Northwest, just before Northgate Way.
Detour signs are now up to direct traffic around the 15th Avenue Northwest bridge, which closes before Monday morning’s commute, choking one of Maple Leaf’s main north-south streets.
The bridge over Thornton Creek will remain shut until perhaps next February. The structure of the entire bridge, just south of Northgate Way at 105th Street, will be strengthened and cracks in the concrete repaired. A railing will separate a new sidewalk to Northgate Way from the pavement, and a bike lane will be added.
Where will the traffic flow through the neighborhood? Project manager Kit Loo, with the Seattle Department of Transportation, asked residents to let him know how it’s going – “we’re really interested in feedback” – at 206-684-3669 or kit.loo@seattle.gov.
