Remember the free “green kitchen kit” we told you about? It’s available starting tomorrow, and so is free compost.

The kitchen kit, including compostable bags for storing food scraps, a food scraper, a compact fluorescent light bulb and a reusable shopping bag, come from Seattle Public Utilities. More information is here. Pick them up at two nearby Neighborhood Service Centers: Lake City, 12525 28th Ave. N.E. (second floor); and the University District, 4534 University Way N.E.

Two bags of free Cedar Grove compost are also available, courtesy of the utility department. A coupon is here. The closest location to Maple Leaf is 7400 Sand Point Way N.E.

All this is part of “Compost Days,” which run from Tax Day through May 30.
