A derelict house that neighbors said was being used by delinquents and the homeless was destroyed this week by Seattle Parks and Recreation. As a neighbor living two lots from the property, we’ve watched as the abandoned house has been repeatedly broken into by teens, the homeless, and others. The police have responded to this location

It appears that enough Maple Leaf residents finally chimed in about all the perks of our neighborhood to put us in the rankings on NabeWise. The website ranks neighborhoods in specific cities based on reviews from its own residents, who must be members of the site to contribute. Since the site added Seattle in June, Maple Leaf already has climbed into the No. 1 spot

Like many of the streets on the east side of Maple Leaf, you can’t count on Northeast 97th Street to get you in a straight line from 15th Avenue Northeast to Lake City Way. And for about a month, the one-block stretch where the street ends for vehicles between 19th and 20th avenues northeast also ended for pedestrians. But the staircase
