Although we’re reluctant to ask anybody to drive in this weather, we still want to share a request urging community members to contribute to a food drive that St. Catherine of Siena Parish School is helping organize. Many things are closed or not happening this morning. They include: Schools. Garbage, yard waste and recycling pickup. All libraries, until 1 p.m. Planes - flight crews are having trouble getting to the airport. Call first! Many park programs. The University of Washington. Many bus routes.

Now that the wind has died down, it sure is purty around Maple Leaf despite the 18 degree temperature during this sunrise stroll around the neighborhood. However, I don’t think anybody will be riding that scooter today, with the forecast calling for a high of 24 degrees before dropping to a low of 13 degrees tonight.

Update 8:30 p.m.: All Seattle schools and facilities closed Tuesday Nov. 23. All Seattle Public Libraries opening Tuesday Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. King County Metro Transit is keeping buses in all areas on snow routes for Tuesday morning. Buses will be crowded and significantly delayed, perhaps even worse than Monday due to the road
