Update Dec. 8th: The Seattle Times has updated information here. The Seattle Police Department has more here.
The medical examiner’s office has not yet released the man’s identity. (And all mentions of the Northgate neighborhood in this incident are left behind.)
5 p.m. update with a link to the Seattle Police press release.
This afternoon brought an armed carjacking, a high-speed chase, shots fired…apparently in Sandpoint, Montlake, Wedgwood and – Northgate?
According to our news partner The Seattle Times:
We were out of position, but: Does anyone have any information about activity in Northgate/Maple Leaf?
So far, I haven’t seen any reports that indicate the suspect was ever north of NE 75th St. Not sure how “Northgate” got involved, unless some reporter thinks that anything north of the University District and East of I-5 is “Northgate.”
Thanks to Seattle Police. Glad nobody but the bad guy got shot.
Will they release a name of the decedent?
“Officers began pursuing the suspect in Montlake, where they came under fire from the fleeing suspect, according to the SPD.
The man then reportedly drove onto westbound 520 and northbound onto I-5, before exiting in the Ravenna neighborhood.
The SPD says the suspect fired at officers at Northeast 68th Street and 35th Avenue NE. Officers reportedly returned fire, fatally wounding the man. ”
