Mike, the editor for this blog, accepts leads and acts on them; he also accepts copy (aka, “news stories”) and photos. Like all news publications, he doesn’t accept all of any of them. Yours truly has given him leads that were valuable, photos and copy; some were not used for reasons he explained – some having to do with issues unrelated to how good they might be or were (such as privacy or liability issues).
It doesn’t pay anything, but it helps make the blog better. For those needing to exercise the muscles between their ears, or create samples of work on-line, it’s a way to go. However, be advise: journalism is not for sissies or prima donnas.
Note: This is coming from a writer/photographer whose work has appeared in the New York Times, Puget Sound Business Journal, Sports Car Market and others, for what it’s worth.
