And The Fraternal Order of Eagles joined in too! They are located over on Lake City Way at 82nd, which would have made our route a bit long, so they came over and handed out treats at the end of the parade route at Perkins. We are lucky to have such a community-focused organization in our neighborhood.
Oh geez, I should have listed the participating businesses!
• Roosevelt Alehouse
• Maxine’s Floral
• Cloud City Coffee
• ADWAS
• Fine Impressions Gallery
• Geddes Group
• Cafe Javasti
• Kona Kitchen
• Blue Saucer
• Reckless Video
• Maple Leaf Ace Hardware
• Perkins School
• Peaks Frozen Custard
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I didn’t get a chance to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who turned out. When I looked out the window that morning, I prayed we’d have at least 10 kids show up . . . holy mackeral! Color me happy! The number of people was magnificent. I had the best time with the cat, the grim reapers, the princesses, and all the other kids who were hanging out at the lead of the parade with me — lovely, charming kids.
And thanks to the businesses who participated AND the homes along the route who came out with treats.
And Peaks! Peaks Frozen Custard made the parade end on a sweet note.
Lastly, David the sign guy. We had a long line of kids and parents who crossed major arterials five times along the route and he was there to make sure we got everyone across the street safely and still (somewhat) grouped together without holding up traffic badly or irritating the car drivers. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
If anyone has any comments or suggestions for next year’s parade, please let us know. You can send suggestions to donna.hartmann-miller@mapleleafcommunity.org. I will pass along comments to next years planners.
Thanks again everyone!
