The mural on Roosevelt Way Northeast and Northeast 86th Street, showing plans for the new Maple Leaf Reservoir Park but destroyed in a car crash last fall, is coming back.
Earlier today Donna Hartmann-Miller, the Maple Leaf Community Council’s park czar, was busy with a new work, presumably with up-to-date information from last week’s park meeting.
Seattle Parks hasn’t yet updated this site with the results of that meeting, but it has posted playground possibilities from the kids at Olympic View Elementary School.
Gwen Wilson, member of Friends for a Greater Maple Leaf Park, was doing the detail work! We’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for not only a non-rainy day, but one that was warm enough and that we both had some free time to paint! We got the grass painted though, so that is good.
Also, Mark Reider, another member of FGMLP, has started a Facebook page for Friends for a Greater Maple Leaf Park. Please give us a visit and follow us on there.
And a reminder, if you are interested in giving an opinion on the Play Area (aka, the Family Terrace, made up of the playground equipment, adventure play area, and children’s garden), you need to have your comments sheets turned in by this Wednesday, June 8th. You can fill out an online version or pick up a paper copy in front of the display window.
