Jan e-mailed us to say the Post Office at Northgate, 11036 Eighth Ave. N.E., has a sign up that it was burglarized Monday.
That post office is the closest to Maple Leaf, and the chief victims were area residents who use the PO Boxes there.
According to the police report, the burglars forced their way into the building about 6:20 a.m., Monday, Oct. 18.

I have to wonder about security at the post office. Apparently there is none. All these important items going thru this building, and nary an alarm system? Also, one would assume that at 6:20 a.m. on a weekday, the place would be swarming with employees. This thing has “inside job” written all over it.
I have one of those P O boxes in that office, but no one has notified me of any of my mail actually being stolen. I get my all of my most sensitive mail sent there since my home box has been burglarized too many times to count. Don’t these people who engage in this evil behavior have any idea of just how fast it is all going to catch up with them? We’re all struggling right now and we simply don’t need this too. I made a report because I saw suspicious behavior that may or may not be related. I just want this thief or thieves to be caught as soon as possible.
Wow, that is awful. People often get post offices because they feel mail delivery to their home isn’t secure enough.
