At least seven cars were stolen or prowled in Maple Leaf during the week leading up to the three-day holiday weekend. According to police reports:
* Thieves took a car on Thursday, Sept. 2, from the 9200 block of Roosevelt Way Northeast.
* On the previous day, Wednesday, Sept. 1, they attempted to steal a vehicle from the 9700 block of Third Avenue Northeast.
* On Monday, Aug. 30, someone attempted to steal a vehicle from the 10600 block of Eighth Avenue Northeast.
* Thieves prowled two cars in the 1200 block of Northeast 98th Street. One occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday, Aug. 29; the other about 10 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 28.
* Cars were also prowled - broken into but not stolen - on Tuesday, Aug. 31, in the 8500 block of Eighth Avenue Northeast, and Wednesday Sept. 1, in the 7300 block of 12th Avenue Northeast.
