No kopi luwak at Cafe Kopi, but it is now open later

When Cafe Kopi took over the Sugar Shack this summer, new owner Fery Sutanto didn’t take much off the menu. But she has been busy adding food items, such as the new Citrus and Caesar salads and an Indonesian drink she expects will debut next week that’s made of young coconuts called Happy Soda.

Meanwhile, for those of you who have found the hours a bit unaccommodating, she’s now staying open until 6 p.m. weekdays.

If all these changes make you worry about the fate of the mural, don’t. Sutanto says she has no plans to remove it, especially after multiple people driving by when she was doing work near the mural stopped by to pleadingly request that she leave it intact.

And we have an answer for Laura C., who asked in our last post whether Cafe Kopi, 8056 Lake City Way, would be serving kopi luwak. As much as Sutanto would like to serve the coffee made from coffee berries excreted by monkeys (“The moneys only pick the good beans,” Sutanto reassures us), she’s not sure there’s a market in Maple Leaf for a cup of coffee that can cost a couple of hundred dollars per cup.

Think there’s demand in Maple Leaf for such an expensive cup of coffee?
