Summer has returned to Maple Leaf just in time for a visit from the Parfait Organic Artisan Ice Cream truck, which will be parked at Blue Saucer from 5:30-8:30 p.m. today and every other Wednesday evening this month.
As we reported earlier, Blue Saucer, located at 9127 Roosevelt Way N.E., will stay open later on these summer evenings to accommodate guests.
Also this week, Skillet Street Food plans to stop in the neighborhood for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The mobile joint will be parked south of Thornton Place at the Washington Dental Building, 9706 Fourth Ave. N.E.
On the menu this week: The Burger with grass-fed beef, arugula, bacon jam and cambozola on a soft roll; Pork Belly “Banh Mi” with carrots, lime, fish sauce, cilantro, siracha and aioli on a soft roll; Heirloom Tomato “Soup” with grilled prawn, creme fraiche and herbs; the crowd-pleasing Poutine (hand-cut french fries with gravy, cheddar and herbs); and blackberry lemonade.
