“Learn. Play. Sweat.”

That’s the motto of MKG Martial Arts International, a fitness and fighting  school located in Maple Leaf/Northgate at 10722 Fifth Ave. N.E.

The school, headed by Andy Wilson, is celebrating its 10th anniversary by inviting staff, students, their families and the entire community to attend an open house on Saturday, July 31, from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

The Open House is a family activity, featuring intro classes, martial arts demonstrations, prizes/raffles, personal safety presentations, games for the kids, fun for all and refreshments.  Raffles will include movie tickets, restaurant cards, free private lessons, Wii/Playstation/XBox for kids, and a grand prize of a full year of tuition will be raffled.

MKG highlights five separate styles of martial arts, including Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do. Wilson and his Seattle school, which includes a  branch in Edmonds, are affiliated with the Minnosata Kali Group.

The school’s lineage includes teacher Dan Inosanto, originally certified by Bruce Lee. Inosanto more recently trained actor Denzel Washington in Kali for his role as a fighter in The Book of Eli.

  1. <3 MKG! I'm in my second round of their Body Sculpt class and I'm really seeing positive results not only in pants size but in my physical abilities and fitness level as well! Couldn't recommend it enough. This is a great opportunity to see what it's all about.
