Last Monday afternoon a woman driving on First Avenue Northeast just south of Northgate Mall saw a man in his 20s on the ground, police report.

She called 911, and when officers arrived the victim said that at about 3:30 p.m. he withdrew $1,375 from a store in the mall to make a deposit on a house he and roommates were moving into on Greenwood Avenue North, the police report states.

With his money in his hip pocket the victim began to walk to a bus stop, but near Northeast 95th Street he was struck on the back of his head and fell to the ground. Three attackers took the money and got into an “older reddish boxy 4 door Cadillac with nice rims and dark tinted windows,” the police report states.

Police say the victim thought one of the males was possibly Hispanic and the other two males were black. He said he did not recognize the men, but might recognize the car if he saw it again, according to the police report.

Police said the victim refused medical assistance. An officer gave him a courtesy ride to the Greenwood house.

Earlier that day, police report a home in the 10400 block of 12th Avenue Northeast was burglarized and a TV, a computer, a box spring/mattress set and a credit card were stolen.

The resident told police he left his house about 2 p.m. June 14. When he returned around 3:30 p.m., his front door was unlocked and the kitchen door ajar, but there was no sign of forced entry, the police report states. The man’s credit card company told him somebody had already used the card to buy gas in Lake City or Lake Forest Park, police said.

The man told police he had locked himself out of his house a week earlier and had to call a 24-hour locksmith.
