Kids with an interest in veterinary careers can gain some behind-the-scenes experience this summer through the Maple Leaf Veterinary Care Center, 1421 N.E. 80th St.
The owner of the business, Dr. Scott Schini, said the clinic is hoping to take students in junior high or high school under its wing this summer to show them what goes on inside a veterinary clinic.
“We’ll try to coordinate it so there’s some interesting things going on,” he said, adding that students could see care ranging from regular checkups to surgeries such as spaying and neutering.
But because this isn’t an organized class, simply an informal invitation for interested students to spend a day at the clinic, the opportunity is only available on a first-come, first-served basis, Schini added.
