They came, they ate, they grooved and they gave back.
The community dined out in droves in support of North Helpline’s first Empty Bowls event, a fundraiser Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. that aims to help keep food on the tables of the 750 North Seattle families the food bank helps each week.
For a minimum suggested donation of $12, guests were invited to choose a handcrafted bowl (photo below), then fill it with food donated from local restaurants including La Casa del Mojito and Hudson New American Public House, while enjoying tunes from local musicians.
Local artisans also sold handmade crafts, with a portion of the proceeds going toward North Helpline, while a silent auction offered other local treats, including vacation getaways and a birthday party at the Seattle Gymnastics Academy.
Raffle tickets also were available for $2.50 for a Whole Foods gift basket, a gift certificate to Rover’s Restaurant and more.
