15th Avenue Bridge closure on hold

Back in February we posted “When will the bridge close?” about the imminent total shutdown of the 15th Avenue Northeast bridge over Thornton Creek.

Since then all buses have been rerouted off 15th Avenue and down Roosevelt Avenue, and March has come and gone, and the bridge – which is just south of Northgate Way – is still open.

Current guess, according to the city’s Department of Transportation Web page on the bridge, is “not yet.”

Blaming unforeseen difficulties, apparently with the contract for the work rehabilitating the bridge, the city says only that two weeks prior to the yearlong closure electronic bulletin boards will appear on 15th Avenue to notify us.

Or you can ask the city to e-mail you when they’re about to close the bridge. Address your e-mail to: Maribel.Cruz@Seattle.Gov
