Changes at the park – where's the zip line, sign?

January 31st, 2014 by Mike

Several neighbors have recently asked  when the popular zip line at the Maple Leaf Playground will be fixed.

It broke, apparently, last weekend.

“Wanting to ask why the Zip Line seat and hanging part disappeared on Saturday,” wrote DanM.

Since then, fencing has been installed around the “launch platform” at the top of  the line.

We expect to hear back from Seattle Parks on this early next week.

If anyone has answers now, please leave them in comments.

While we were at it, we also asked Parks where the (graffiti-ridden) sign at the west entrance to the playground has gone.

Seattle Metropolitan Magazine has named Maple Leaf as one of the 15 best places to live in Western Washington.  Here’s just part of what the magazine is saying:

Without a showcase feature like Greenlake’s water or Sunset Hill’s view to drive up housing prices, the charming Craftsman homes and Tudors in the southern end of Maple Leaf have remained affordable by Seattle standards. But a variety of factors even within the compact community—proximity to Roosevelt or the park, road noise from I-5, traffic from Northgate Mall—can create sizable price differences from one street to the next.
