Celebrate Paris at Thornton Place on Saturday

Summerfest, the new free celebration at Thornton Place, returns this afternoon, July 27, with “Paris on the Plaza,” from 3-6 p.m.

Thornton Place kicked off the summer festival in June with the Latin-inspired “Side of Salsa,” and is following it up this week with a jazz trio complemented by dance lessons from Century Ballroom, which will be offering an East Coast swing lesson.

In addition to your dancing shoes, be sure to bring your appetite as there will food available from 314 PIE and Crisp Creperie.

Celebrate Louisianathon! at the Eagles Club

Put on your dancing shoes and head to the Eagles Club on Nov. 4 for Louisianathon! The ninth annual Northwest Cajun-Zydeco Music & Dance Festival is coming to Maple Leaf for the first time, and the whole community is invited to the event featuring seven bands for $10.

The event is from 2-8 p.m. at Eagles Mother Aerie No. 1, 8201 Lake City Way N.E., and the live bands include Swamp Soul, TroupeĀ Acadian, Folichon, Bayou Beat, Richard Allen & the Louisiana Experience, Les Chattes Creloes and Sassafras. Don’t know how to dance to Cajun or Zydeco music? There will be free lessons for the willing!
